Frequently Asked Questions
Can we get a copy of your brochure?
Yes, There’s a link on the home page and on this page to our e-brochure.
It’s all the same information that’s on our website in a handy little package, although the prices may not be correct in the brochure, they are correct on the website
We can send you a pdf version if you’d like as well. Just get in touch to request this.
We try to be as sustainable as possible and part of this commitment means we don’t print many copies of our brochure. If you do want a printed copy let us know.
Can we do the legal bit at Deers Leap?
Yes, Deer’s Leap is licensed for civil ceremonies in a variety of locations across the site including the stone barn and the gazebo by the lake.
We’ll explain the process of booking the registrars, and giving notice.
We really want a church wedding, can we still book with you?
Of course, we’re more than happy for couples and families to get ready at Deer’s Leap, head off to a ceremony elsewhere and then come back for the reception. We’ll have everything in hand whilst your off tying the knot!
There are some beautiful churches in the area including our Parish church, West Anstey. Just ask if you need some inspiration.
Is there a corkage charge?
No.
When it comes to drinks for the day and evening, we can provide everything or nothing, or something in between, but there is no corkage charge.
You may wish to bring your favourite champagne for the toast but leave the rest to us, it’s completely flexible.
What are the catering options?
You have free reign!
- Self-cater the whole break & wedding
- Bring in your own caterers
- Mixture of the above
We have recommendations if you want them.
Do we have to use your preferred suppliers?
Not at all, we’re more than happy for you to use whoever you like for your wedding – it is your day.
What about entertainment?
You’re welcome to have any combination of entertainment you would like.
We’ve had a mariachi band, a gospel choir, a rockoake band and almost anything else you can imagine.
There’s loads of space for lawn games, photo booths, ice cream stalls, prosecco vans or even a bouncy castle. Whatever you’re dreaming of, the likelihood is we’ll be able to accommodate it and if we can’t, there will be a really good reason.
Can we have fireworks and lanterns on the lake
Yes, you can. These are the only things we ask you to use our recommended suppliers for,
The amazing sonic fireworks and Chineselanterns.co.uk
Sonic do an amazing, whisper firework display which is essential in this farmland setting so as not to cause distress and damage to the farming livestock surrounding us.
Can we have fire pits and patio heater in case we get chilly in the evening?
Of course! It might be a balmy 25 degrees on lovely English summer’s day but it is still England.
We do have fire pits and patio heaters
What happens if it rains?
There are lots of things we can put in place to make your choice for outdoor wedding work, even if the weather is typically British.
The site is quite compact, meaning you don’t have miles to walk between the farmhouse, the lake and the stone barn.
We have a stretch canopy which we can put up to create a covered outdoor space for your guests during the ceremony.
We’ve not yet had a couple unable to be married under the gazebo at the lake on account of the weather. The local registrars are really understanding and practical about outdoor weddings.
We also have lots of umbrellas on hand and parasols for the terrace area.
We always work on a plan B with couples that they’re happy with so they can relax whatever the weather does
What do we do about payments?
We have two payment options:
1. We take a minimum of £1000 for the deposit and then agree on a payment plan, with the final balance being due 2 months prior to your check-in.
2. You pay half the total amount for your deposit and then pay the final balance 6 months before your check-in.
How many guests can we have?
The Gazebo down by the lake is licensed for 100+ people, as it’s an outdoor space the limit is how many chairs we can have with a good view of the ceremony.
For a formal sit-down reception, the barn seats a maximum of 100 guests. If you want to seat more than 100, you need to hire a marquee. However, if you want a more informal wedding breakfast with ad-hock seating, you can accommodate more.
170 is our max capacity on site
How much are the bell tents?
We have five bell tents available for your guests to hire which are 6mx4m tents.
They are available for May to September weddings.
Each beautiful bell tent sits on its own decking, has a stove& tea tray, wood burner & fuel, a real Kingsize bed and a proper mattress. Towels & bedding is also included for 2; you’ll have feather duvets and pillows for a cosy night’s sleep! Each tent comes with a private mains toilet, shower and camping kitchen.
The tents can sleep up to 2-4 people, with 2 guests bringing their own beds and bedding.
The bell tents are £180.00.
Your guests pay us directly for their tent, taking the stress out of it for you.
